We Can All Do Our Bit...

At FocusFive Designs we want to do our bit to reduce the impact we have on the Earth. Whether that be ensuring our timber is sustainably sourced, limiting the amount of single use plastic in our packaging or reducing our wastage.

Our Bit...

Reducing Waste

Instead of throwing our larger timber offcuts in the skip, we use our larger offcuts to create our smaller pieces! Like our chopping boards (and have even made guinea pig boxes)!

And for those pieces that are just a little too small we chop them up even smaller and sell them as pizza oven sticks!

We also try and reduce the amount of single use plastic involved in our deliveries - kraft brown paper sticky tape is our personal favourite!

Upcycling

Our whole business was developed through the idea of 'upcycling'. Finding bits and bobs that were at the end of their previous useful life and giving them their umph back!

We pick up old scaffold boards, create lamps out of car engine parts and even make mirrors out of jet engines!

Stopping 'old rubbish' going to landfill and repurposing into a unique talking point - it's a win win.

Plant a tree

In 2023 we have decided we want to do a bit more. We use (sustainably sourced) trees everyday to make our products, so we think it's only fair to make sure we give back!

For every product bought we plant a tree - whether that be us physically or by donating to one of the amazing charities that carry out this brilliant idea.

Deliveries

For our larger deliveries we use a local delivery driver who picks up and delivers our products when on other delivery routes.

This means there are less miles travelled in one-off trips and also means we are supporting another local small business!

Thoughtfully Sourced

We use reclaimed boards wherever possible - preloved = plentiful character!

For our boards that are fresh out the mill, we use sustainably sourced FSC timbers.

We also know how important it is to support small businesses...

Our steel is supplied by a small local fabrication company, our powder coating is done in the next workshop over and our large deliveries are done by a one-man band.
